Rongai Route: bordering to Kenyan, this route is suitable for those climbers seeking for an alternative to the Marangu route. Climbers on this route feel more distant and detached from other hikers. Climbers with poor hiking experience are recommended to use this route. Climbers on this route spend a minimal of 6 days for the Summit.

ROUTE ITINERARY

Upon arrival, you will meet with our guide at the airport. Your guide will drive you towards the assigned hotel for overnight at Moshi town. You will have some little rest whereby after some little rest you will meet with your guide to brief you on your upcoming trek and hiking gears check in so as to be assured that all necessary equipment’s you have them while having more time to buy or rental whatever will be missing.

Transit from the hotel over wooden village of Nale Moru towards Marangu get about 2 hours .Get stopover for registration formalities, as soon as you get a permit, start climbing over a wide trail of which breezes across mazes and potatoes before heading over the pine forest. Enjoy the gentle trail while encounter the couple of wildlife diversity mostly primates. Get stopover over the edge of the moorland zone with extensive for some rest and overnight stay while enjoying the Paranomic views from Kenyan plains.
These below are climbers reminders recommended in first night on this elevation
• Do not drink any alcohol and get little caffeine intake.
• Drinking more than 4 liters of water at a day retains climbers hydrated.
• We inspire climbers to takes Diamox in mornings earlier before hiking to control altitude sickness symptoms. Check doctor of Diamox prior sendoff for the trip.
• “The higher the discomfort the higher the acclimatization”. Though, as soon you feel sense of headaches and nausea and other symptoms, get notify your guide immediately.

Get hike is a steady ascent up towards a Second Cave through superb Paranomic views of Kibo and the Eastern ice g rounds of the crater rim.

Get off Second Cave over the moorland vegetation’s along a smaller route heading over the jagged peaks of Mawenzi. You will stopover for a little rest and overnight stay while enjoying a sheltered valley of enormous Senecio neighboring.

Vegetation Zone: Semi-desert
Get off from Kikelewa Camp over the vegetation behind shortly before reaching the next camp at Mawenzi Tarn, spectacularly situated in a cirque directly beneath the towering spires of Mawenzi. Get explore a little and steep ascent up grassy slopes which remunerated with Paranomic superb views while stopover for some rest, enjoy hot lunch and dinner here you will aid more acclimatization.

Soon after breakfast, you will get off the Mawenzi Lake through over semilunar desert across ‘Saddle’ from Mawenzi and Kibo towards Kibo campsite at the foot of the Kibo crater wall .Stopover for some rest and overnight stay ,however it has recommended to get the early sleep for the Summit.

Vegetation Zone: Alpine Desert
Get leave the Kibo Hut to Summit to Horombo Hut very earl in the midnight around 01.00Am with headlamps or flashlights over steep and heavy scree or snow up to Gilman’s Point located on the crater rim (elevation 5700m/18,700ft). Very cold until you get descending, therefore you must have warm layered clothes. Advance on while ascending towards Uhuru Peak, of which hold the highest view point in Africa (A Roof of Africa). Once stopover take some pictures, little rest enjoy some soft drinks and a little celebrates of the summit before heading back and stopover at Kibo for some rest and Hot lunch while retaining energy to move to Horombo camp. This is a most complex part of a route, you will go through switchbacks. Get a keen and slow walk; an optimistic attitude will get you there under UNFORGATTABLE AFRICA HOME OF BIG FIVE.

Soon after enjoy breakfast at Horombo, gets descent down while crossing over moorland and alpine Desert zone to the Mandara Hut. Advance on while descending over a great plush forest heading at Marangu gate (lower elevations).It might be wet and cloudy; however keep rain gear and warmer clothing handy (Gaiters and hiking sticks will support your walk ). Here is last point to have a little sharing idea with your guides and the entire trekking crew, spends little time to appreciating each other, get your awarded climbing certificates before driving back to Hotel for fresh air and shower, celebrates with soft drinks while waiting to flight back at home.
